Certified Prosthetist

Description

The prosthetist performs a broad range of orthotic and prosthetic services designing custom devices using standard components to optimize patient performance. Assignments include taking measurements required for fabrication and fitting of devices used to treat both common and complex levels including orthoses for the trunk and cervical spine, lower and upper extremity orthoses and transtibial/transfemoral prostheses. The work involves identification of the biomechanical condition; explaining procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and gain support and cooperation; detailed patient assessment including conducting gait analysis, range of motion, coordination and balance, and motor skills; interviewing patients for lifestyle assessments; taking necessary measurements, casts, or scans to develop positive molds; recognizing physical abnormalities, deviations, and complicating conditions; fabricating, fitting, and evaluating these custom devices; and maintenance of the patient's record. The work includes the use of Computer Assisted Design/Computer Assisted Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) systems.  This very specialized position, while demanding, offers a great deal of personal satisfaction. Given the nature of highly specialized patient centric care, one can gain a great deal of pride in their accomplishments. The successful candidate will possess the ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of quality. This position demands an individual with a work ethic that puts the patient above all else. It requires computer skills for basic entry and processing. ABC or BOC certified.

Requirements

Prior prosthetic fabrication experience a plus. P&O experience is required . The ability to work with minimum supervision and support process documentation requirements are essential Computer skills; Microsoft Windows and Office. Must have critical reading, writing and communication skills Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities required
